a waste of 40pounds...

Last night my friend and I were sitting in the den and I said to her, 'I never want to live in a vegetative state, dependent on some machine and fluids from a bottle to keep me alive. That would be no quality of life at all. If that ever happens, just pull the plug.'

So she got up, unplugged the computer, and threw out my wine.

She's such a bitch.

i didnt think i'd be upset... it wasn't my idea... but i am. so there. ='(

wanted to blog abt how everybody is blaming disney classics for promoting non-realistic notions of happily ever after but it seems jilly's alr done it for me... but just to add...

jeez ppl... there's a reason ppl watch disney motion pictures... to stay hopeful that there is indeed a silver lining to every cloud! ><

i have to admit tho... i hate snow white...the animation was beautiful, as were the songs... but to me, snow was such a WHIMP! and she was kinda stupid gullible... (i like the shrek version of snow tho)... also, snow white, who was lying 'dead' in the glass coffin attacted the prince by looks alone... which to me is not a great lesson.

on the other hand, Belle from Beauty and the Beast could see past the 'ugliness' of the Beast.. i say 'ugliness' cause i actually rather liked the beast's gorgeous brown fur =)
Gaston was handsome... and yet Belle was loyal to the Beast... THAT is a virtue...

some ppl say the disney girls portray women as weak... i don't think so...
cinderella was brave enough to GO to the ball... even with the stepmom and stepsisters there. pocahontas threw herself on top of john smith without fearing being killed by her own dad. belle was willing to sacrifice herself and stay with the beast in exchange for her father's life... [in case u hadn't realised by now, beauty and the beast is my fave,(second only to the lion king. pocahontas is third... colours of the wind still makes me feel all tingly)]

mulan faught in the war in her father's place and then later refused to back down when shang told her to go away when she tried to warn him that the bad guys were alive and abt to attack the emperor... ariel took the risk of seeing the sea witch to make her human (ursula is probably the creepiest disney villain... i'd hate to be locked in a room with her ><) and then later tried her level best to save eric from ursula before he married her...

happy?

i could go on and on and on... but i think the point is made.

so what if ariel only wears a bikini?!? she's a mermaid!!!
so what if cinderella relied on her fairy godmother? what's life without a lil magic?
so what if mulan disobeyed her father? if she hadn't, who knows what would have happened..

point is... the disney formula works. happy endings keep us going... a little break from reality wont hurtla deng.
